You are invited to attend either of our two services led by community rabbis and cantors in the Sadugor Gazebo, Founders’ Garden. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, attendance will be limited to 75 people in the Gazebo (weather permitting). Once filled, families will be invited to join through our live video stream while at the memorial park or from home. The Akeidah, the Binding of Isaac, is an emotional and complex narrative. Of all the possibilities, why is this the Torah reading on the second day of Rosh HaShanah? Using various interpretive approaches to this text, Rabbi Safra will explore the concepts of martyrdom, free will, and other aspects of what makes the Akeidah such an appropriate reading for the High Holiday season.

Let’s gather for an informal conversation about B’nai’s budding involvement in Social Justice work. Hear from members who are energized by their involvement with Action in Montgomery (AIM) and Jews United For Justice (JUFJ), including member Laura Wallace, the Montgomery County Director of JUFJ. We’ll talk about the Why and the What – Why it’s important for B’nai Israel to be engaged with this work and What you can do to participate.
