In this class, we will look at some ancient sources that discuss Hannukah and ask the interesting historical question of whether the rabbis tried to downplay the military victory achieved on the battlefield and instead chose to focus on the miracle of the oil. Rabbi Dr. Joshua Kulp is the Senior Scholar at the Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism and the Conservative Yeshiva. He is the author of three books and the English Mishnah commentary on Sefaria. He lives in Modiin, and for the past 18 summers he has been on the teaching staff at Camp Ramah in New England.
