B'nai Israel Congregation

The International March of the Living brings individuals from around the world to Poland and Israel to study the history of the Holocaust and to examine the roots of prejudice, intolerance, and hatred. Since its inception in 1988, more than 300,000 alumni from 50 countries have marched down the same 3-kilometer path leading from Auschwitz to Birkenau on Yom HaShoah as a tribute to all victims of the Holocaust.

The Refugee and Immigrant Aid Committee has worked to support the resettlement of refugees in our area, and over the past few years has supported ad-hoc projects and initiatives. Join us for a conversation about priorities and initiatives for this year.

A National Book Award Finalist This extraordinary story tells how the Vatican’s imprisonment of a six-year-old Jewish boy in 1858 helped to bring about the collapse of the Popes’ worldly power in Italy. The reason for his abduction: the boy had been secretly “baptized” by a family servant. According to papal law, the child is therefore a Catholic who can be taken from his family and delivered to a special monastery where his conversion will be completed. This moving film reads as a historical thriller and authoritative analysis of how a single human tragedy changed the course of history.
