B’nai Israel clergy teach our 6th grade students about the mitzvah of tefillin, including how to properly wear them. Tefillin will be available for purchase at a generous discount thanks to the generosity of the Dollye and I. Wolford Berman Educational Initiative Grant. These workshops are open to all B’nai Israel 6th graders.

In-Person at the Bender JCC
We are pleased to return to an in-person format for the 2025 Yom Ha'Shoah Commemoration at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington on Sunday, April 27, 2:00 PM with keynote speaker Frank Cohn. Please sign up to attend by clicking on the above image. We encourage you to share with your family and friends and make plans to join us. 3GDC and JCRC will co-sponsor the annual Holocaust Remembrance Day Service at Sixth and I on Wednesday, April 23 at 7:00 PM. More details are forthcoming. Other programs include: Dor L’Dor, an intergenerational program for teens & their families and educators to meet with and hear local Holocaust survivors share their living testimonies. Unto Every Person There is a Name (virtual), the public reading of Shoah victims’ names, co-sponsored by B’nai B’rith International and the JCRC. Names will be read by elected officials from the DMV and by students from local Jewish Day Schools.

B’nai Israel will be providing dinner for residents of the Interfaith Works Women’s Shelter at Taft Court. We need your help in supplying various parts of the meal. The items can be purchased or prepared in your home. They should serve 6 to 8 people and be in disposable pans. There will be various opportunities for drop off of your items.
