Rules are necessary for any group activity to be successful. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun and exciting experience for everyone.
  1. All participants will be expected to show derekh eretz (common courtesy) to one another at all times. Disrespectful behavior toward staff and other participants will not be tolerated.
  2. All participants will be at all scheduled activities, and will arrive on time.
  3. The Conservative Movement’s standards regarding Shabbat will be observed. This includes refraining from lighting fires, using radio or television or other electrical appliances, playing musical instruments, writing and using cell phones or carrying money.
  4. Kashrut will be strictly observed. All food must conform to the standards of B’nai Israel Congregation. Our policy is to wait 3 hours between eating meat and milk products. Nut-free snacks will be served.
  5. All males must wear kippot at services, study sessions, and meals. All females are strongly encouraged to do so as well.
  6. Participants will not use or have any contact with alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, or illegal drugs, nor will they tolerate their use by others. This rule will be strictly enforced and warnings will not be given. The minimum sanction for this behavior is immediate expulsion from the program (at parental expense).
  7. Use of prescription medications is restricted to the individual for whom they were prescribed. All medication must be turned in to the designated staff member before the program begins, to be administered at the appropriate times.
  8. The staff reserves the right to search the belongings of any participant as well as the living space any participant inhabits during the course of the event.
  9. No one is to leave the program site at any time without the express permission of the program staff.
  10. There will be no visitors, youth or adults, without the permission of the program staff.
  11. No participant may be away from his/her room after curfew without the permission of the program staff.
  12. Males and females may not be in each other’s room or alone in any unsupervised fashion.
  13. Use of any waterfront or pool facility will not be allowed.
I do hereby grant permission for my child to participate in the 5th & 6th Grade Kallah at the Pearlstone Retreat Center. I understand that the program begins at B’nai Israel Congregation at 1:45 PM on Friday, March 8, and ends at B’nai Israel Congregation at approximately 12:30 PM on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

I understand that every reasonable safety precaution will be observed, but that B’nai Israel Congregation does not have accident insurance for the conduct of these activities and accepts no responsibility for any personal injury or loss of personal property connected herewith. I authorize B’nai Israel Congregation to provide emergency treatment or hospital care if it should be needed, and I absolve B’nai Israel Congregation, its staff, nurses, and physicians, and hospitals selected by it from any liability for services rendered in good faith. Of course, in the event of an emergency, every effort will be made to reach the parents or their proxy.

I understand that I am liable for all damage caused by my child to the property of others, and will reimburse B’nai Israel Congregation for such claims as determined by the program staff of B’nai Israel Congregation.

I have reviewed the attached Behavior Code with my child and understand that they must comply with the Code or be subject to disciplinary action as determined by the program staff. I understand that my child may be sent home from the Kallah at my expense if found to be in violation of this Code.
