Allan Goodman, a member of B’nai Israel since 1997, has authored a novel, Father, Son, Stone. It is an intriguing blend of history and mystery about the Temple Mount. The main character, Meir Bar-Aben, is a paratrooper in the brigade that captured the Temple Mount during the Six-Day War in 1967. In 2017, Meir is a Justice on the Supreme Court of Israel. When a disaster occurs at the Western Wall, he is chosen to preside over a secret hearing, initiated by the Israeli Prime Minister, to take back control of the Temple Mount from the Muslim Authority. What is revealed during the hearing changes Jerusalem, and the people who live there, forever.

Allan will speak about his experiences that led him to write the novel and how he developed the story, which spans centuries--from the destruction of the Temple by the Romans, the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem in the seventh century, the Six-Day War, the current conflict over control of the Temple Mount, and into our future. Allan spent the summers of 1970 and 1971 in Israel, working on kibbutzim and studying Hebrew, and also served in the Volunteers for Israel program in 2000. He majored in International Affairs at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, where his studies included Middle East Politics and Diplomacy, Jewish History and Thought, Comparative Religion, Islamic History, and Arabic. He was an attorney in private practice for eighteen years, and since 1993 has been a federal administrative judge, mediator and arbitrator.
