HAZAK - How Did Israel Become the Bad Guy? with Joshua Muravchik
Thursday, February 13, 2025 • 15 Shevat 5785
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM12:00 PM BYO Dairy Lunch
12:30–1:30 PM Program
During the early decades of Israel’s existence, it enjoyed the sympathy, often even the staunch support, of the preponderance of international opinion. After being viciously invaded in October 2023 by an army sworn to Israel’s destruction and to the death of all Jews everywhere, and then fighting back to defend itself against future invasions, Israel finds itself in the dock. The UN, international courts, and a seemingly overwhelming majority of international opinion have aligned squarely against it. What happened? What changed? How did Israel become the bad guy?
JOSHUA MURAVCHIK, a writer and specialist on U.S. foreign policy, is a Distinguished Fellow at the World Affairs Institute. His most recent books, Making David Into Goliath: How the World Turned Against Israel, and a short companion e-book, Liberal Oasis: The Truth About Israel, were released in 2014. He is the author of nine previous books. He has published more than 400 articles on politics and international affairs. Mr. Muravchik is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute for World Politics. He serves on the editorial boards of World Affairs, Journal of Democracy, and the Journal of International Security Affairs.
