Join us for a presentation on how two distinct groups from the Canadian Maritimes and the Caribbean came together as a result of tragic but different political circumstances to greatly challenge and energize our growing region.
GREGORY WOOD is a native of southern Michigan and a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Johns Hopkins University. He spent four decades in foreign language instruction and is the author of three works on the French experience in
Maryland. His latest publication is Becoming the Frenchified
State of Maryland: Reflections on the Lives and Contributions of Acadians, Saint-Domingue Refugees, and European Émigrés (Baltimore: Otter Bay Books, 2022). In 2018, he was named co-recipient of the annual Maryland Historic Trust Preservation Award for Excellence in Media and Publications for the website acadianswerehere.org and was inducted into the Order of Living Legends at the Acadian Museum of Erath, Louisiana.
