As we conclude our congregational JTS Ambassador Shabbat, please join us for breakfast as Micah Cowan continues the story of his studies at JTS with "Why Do I Want to Be a Rabbi." We encourage you to support Micah and other students at JTS and the other Conservative/Masorti institutions of higher learning with a donation to Torah Fund. Make your contribution—small or large—at https://inspired.jtsa.edu/TorahFund. Co-hosted by Sisterhood and Men's Club. Please register here for the brunch.
Originally from Rockville, Maryland (but grew up at Tikvat Israel!), Micah Cowan is a fourth year Rabbinical student at JTS. Micah’s deepest roots are in Conservative Judaism, and he is looking forward to sharing his love of t’filah, tradition, and community with the Jewish world upon ordination.
Micah is just beginning his year serving as the Resnick Intern for the Conservative minyan at Columbia/Barnard Hillel. In his second year of rabbinical school, Micah was a monthly intern at Synagogue Emanu-El in Charleston, South Carolina.
In his spare time in NYC, you can find Micah Israeli folk dancing on the Upper West Side, winning Broadway lotteries, and frequenting Trader Joe’s for the newest kosher products.
