L.I.F.E. Lecture: J’Accuse! The Dreyfus Affair and its Aftermath with Ralph Nurnberger

Historian Ralph Nurnberger highlights the trial when Captain Alfred Dreyfus was convicted of treason and the subsequent trials over the course of the next dozen years. Nurnberger will discuss how this event had far reaching ramifications, including the most recent presidential election in France, and how this set the stage for the expansion of antisemitism in Europe and the difficulties faced by minorities seeking justice today.

RALPH NURNBERGER, PHD is a widely
acclaimed speaker who brings humor, current
political insights, and historical background to his
presentations. He taught at Georgetown University
for nearly four decades and received the “Excellence
in Teaching” award. He has been an adjunct lecturer at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) for over a dozen years. He has given numerous presentations at the Smithsonian Institution on a wide range of topics and spoken frequently in Germany, Poland, Britain and Canada. He received a B.A. from Queens College, a M.A. from Columbia University,
and a Ph.D. from Georgetown University. Dr. Nurnberger is a Senior Partner in a Washington, D.C. government relations firm, Nurnberger & Associates, Inc.
