Frederic J. Frommer is a baseball author, freelance writer and historian. He is a frequent contributor to The Washington Post. A passionate chronicler of history, Fred has also written for Politico Magazine, CNN.com, The New York Times and The Atlantic.

Fred is the author of several books, including You Gotta Have Heart: Washington Baseball from Walter Johnson to the 2019 World Series Champion Nationals.

Fred had a 16-year career at The Associated Press, where he created a groundbreaking beat on the intersection of sports and politics in 2009, and covered the Roger Clemens trial as AP’s reporter at the U.S. courthouse in Washington in 2012. Fred is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and earned a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York. He lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife and two sons.
