Passover Workshop: The Missing Story of the Haggadah with Rabbi Joshua Cahan
Sunday, March 26, 2023 • 4 Nisan 5783
10:30 AM - 12:00 PMWe will explore why the Haggadah never actually “Tells the Story” and reassess how the crafters of this text actually understood the mitzvah of “You shall tell your children.” Then we will look at a few key sections to see how they fit together to chart out a compelling and powerful emotional journey. Including yes, we DO answer the question(s)–4 times! and, The Goat should have had the last laugh!
This workshop is scheduled such that parents in our Lessans Talmud Torah can attend the session before picking up their children from class. Our 5th and 6th graders will all have the opportunity to learn with Rabbi Cahan earlier in the morning during Talmud Torah classes.
RABBI JOSHUA CAHAN is a writer and Tefilah educator in New York City. He compiled and edited the Yedid Nefesh bencher and his new Pesach Haggadah is coming out this spring. Previously he spent 13 years teaching high school Talmud and 8 summers running the Beit Midrash program at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin. He holds Rabbinic Ordination and a PhD in Talmud from the Jewish Theological Seminary. He first visited the Bnai Israel building during its initial construction
in 1976.
