Today’s Judaism is far from what we call Biblical Judaism or Temple Judaism and is really the product of the Bible as a basis and rabbinic layers on top of it. In this course we will cover the evolution of Judaism through the generations from Temple Judaism to early Rabbinic Judaism.
GIDEON AMIR was born in Holland to Holocaust survivors, and later moved to Israel. After finishing high school, Gideon joined the Israeli army where he volunteered and served in the Paratroopers. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a Master’s
Degree in Computer Science from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rechovot. In 1980, he moved to the United States. In 1999 he followed his old interest in Judaic Studies, and enrolled in a full-time graduate program at Baltimore Hebrew University where he received a Master’s Degree (with honors). He re-directed his passion for teaching to Jewish and Bible subjects at various adult education programs.
