Voices from Israel: My Childhood in Gush Katif

7:30 PM - 8:30 PMYoav Yaron is a Community Shaliach at the United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien. He will talk about the Jewish communities that existed in the Gaza Strip and Gush Katif, the history of this region, his personal story, and the stories of the Gush Katif communities.
Yoav was born in Gush Katif, and he is the youngest of five. In the past three years, Yoav worked for the Shlichim unit at JAFI and lived in Jerusalem for the last seven years. Yoav has a B.A. from Hebrew University in Comparative Literature and Jewish Studies, a teaching certificate from Kerem Institute in Literature and Israeli Culture, and an M.A from Haifa University in American Jewish Studies (The Ruderman Program).
This is session #3 in a 4-session series, where we will explore different voices and perspectives from various segments of Israeli society in light of the ongoing situation in Israel.
