Zoom - Zikaron Basalon with Isaac Gendelman
Monday, April 20, 2020 • 26 Nisan 5780
6:30 PM - 8:30 PMZoomIsaac Gendelman will be sharing unique artifacts and items he has at home along with his testimony.
Isaac Gendelman is a survivor of the holocaust whose life was inalterably changed by the tragic events that occurred in Rokitno, Poland during World War II. In August 26, 1942, at 18 years old, Mr. Gendelman’s family along with hundreds of other Jews were killed in the town square. He was fortunate and escaped from the Rokitno Ghetto, hiding in the forest for two years. At the end of the war, he lived in a Displaced Persons camp in Linz, Austria. Life began again for Mr. Gendelman when he arrived in Washington, DC on January 17, 1949. He married the love of his life, Goldie, in New York in June 1953, raised a family in the DMV and rebuilt his life. Mr. Gendelman has two children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
