Shamash Award
the Shamash Award nomination
The Men’s Club has created this award to recognize members of the congregation who have contributed their time and abilities to help others or to support a meaningful cause.
Such mitzvot could include helping the homeless, supporting children’s education, assisting the synagogue in a meaningful way, helping the elderly, supporting Israel, advocating for social, racial, or environmental justice, fighting anti-Semitism, or other activities. We encourage nominees of all ages. Just as the Shamash is the light that serves to kindle all the other lights of the menorah, the actions of The Shamash Award recipients bring light to the world and our B’nai Israel community.
Nominations for the 3rd Annual Shamash Award will be accepted through Friday, November 17, 2023. The Men’s Club will present The Shamash Award(s) to the selected congregant or congregants during Men’s Club Shabbat on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Although the Men's Club created this award, this is a congregational award and can be bestowed on any member of the congregation regardless of gender.
